Making the wrong recruitment choice in the finance department is not only costly but potentially catastrophic. So how do you ensure you are able to make the correct selection? Many companies use agencies, but over the years we have found these do not necessarily offer an optimal service. Here are a few questions you might wish to ask when thinking about agency selection:

  • Does the agency undertake a detailed candidate review including personal interview?
  • Are candidates selected by qualified accountants with a detailed understanding of your business?
  • Does the agency understand your corporate culture?
  • Is the agency familiar with your industry sector, its challenges, demands and needs?

Few agencies are able to put a tick in each of these boxes because they do not have the resources to understand individual need.

Over the years, Goodman Jones has successfully recruited on behalf of its clients, with candidates ranging from part-time book-keepers and assistant accountants, to financial controllers and group finance directors. On one occasions, we recruited a group finance director for a group of recruitment agencies! They appreciated the need for specialist recruitment expertise.

Unlike an agency whose fees are based on a percentage of the candidate's remmuneration package, our fees are charged on the basis of time incurred. Except in very unusual circumstances, this will be considerably less than a comparable agency fee. With over 15 years experience in satisfying clients alongside our internal recruitment needs, we provide a cost effective, successful alternative to the traditional recruitment agency.
